The Mayor of Trondheim invites all TNC18 participants to an organ concert in the beautiful Nidaros Cathedral on Monday June 11, at 19.30. The concert will follow the conference’s Opening Reception which will take place at the Scandic Lerkendal hotel (TNC18 venue).
Nidaros Cathedral is the northernmost medieval cathedral in the world, built from 1070-1300 B.C. Today, the cathedral is a popular tourist attraction. Nidaros Cathedral is the site of the observation of Olav's Wake. This religious and cultural festival is centred upon the anniversary of the death of Saint Olav at the Battle of Stiklestad. Tourists often follow the historic Pilgrim's Route to visit the cathedral for this and other events.
The cathedral is also familiar to enthusiasts of Norwegian Black metal, as it is featured on the cover artwork of De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, the 1994 studio album by Mayhem.
Shuttle buses from the Scandic Lerkendal will leave the hotel at 18:45.
