Increasing numbers of Research Communities are turning to Federated Identity as the natural means of user provisioning, and are gaining first hand experience in implementing Federated Authentication and Authorisation Infrastructures in the process. We present a summary of the challenges and recommendations identified by multiple Research Communities, represented by the FIM4R (Federated Identity Management for Research) community, in their upcoming whitepaper, which will have been published by TNC18.
